I have never been more grateful for a memory keeping system as I am now.

Just over a month ago, we welcomed our second miracle baby into our lives.  On June 20th, 2017 Brynn Christina-Lyn was born.  A little girl to complete our family.

To say we feel like we won the lottery of life is truly an understatement.

Having this been our second child, I now know more than ever… the fleetingness of time.  Especially with a baby.  They grow SO fast.  I remember when my son Madix was first born people told me over and over again to “enjoy every minute, they grow so fast”.  At that time I never really thought about it or realized the deep validity of their comments (having it been my first baby).  Knowing what I know now though…man…were they ever right.  They also told me “if you think you are busy with one…wait till you have two!”…and boy were they EVER right about that one too!

Now with an active toddler and a month old baby,  being busier than ever is the new norm.  People continuously ask me how I “keep up” or “have the time” for my memory keeping.  I really hear what they are saying, as I often ask that same question to myself some days!  But for me storytelling, scrapbooking, documenting and photographing my kids is just a part of who I am.  No matter what, I will somehow someway make a point to capture and record our life in whatever way I can.  Understandably some things have to “give”, and it’s not always the perfect time, scenario etc. when it comes to my memory keeping but I do what I can when I can to get it done.  Even if that means having my kitchen table act as my work space for a few days 😉 .

When Storyline was released I was still pregnant and I simply knew that this would be the system I would use to record all of these once in a lifetime moments and memories that were going to happen.  I definitely think when it’s your second (and final) go at this, you really work hard to live in the moment and appreciate each day as it comes because you know it will never happen again.  It is for this reason alone that I am committed to telling Brynn’s story and capturing what I can, when I can, all within the pages of this book.

Today I want to share with you her albums pages thus far.  I am also going to share with you my little system that has been working for me.   Keeping things consistent has been a huge time saver for me.  Let’s be honest, I do not have a ton of time to scrapbook anymore.  So the time that I do have I need to know what I am going to do and what I need to do it.  This has kept me successful and motivated.

Here are my Storyline steps for success:

Keep all of your Storyline supplies together in one spot.  I have my supplies all together in a plastic bin.  Inside this bin are my journaling kits, my deck of days, adhesive and a pen.  That is it.  This is the only supplies I use when creating my pages.  I do not incorporate anything extra as this will just complicate matters for me.  Keeping it basic is where it’s at.

Always begin a page the same way.  For me, this is to do my journaling first.  You will notice on my pages that the journaling is always done in type text using my We R Memory Keepers Typecast.  I love using this tool to add my journaling.  I love the look and feel on the pages.  I also love that I can just sit down and journal without having to worry about my handwriting messing things up.  I can just type away and will achieve the same look throughout my book.

Add deck of days as a final touch.  Once my journaling is done and my photos are adhered I will embellish my page with a deck of days and a few stickers.  I will always incorporate a photo corner or two onto my page as well.

I complete my page by adding date stickers, and I always hand write the ‘who’, ‘what’, ‘where’ section to add that extra bit of personalized touch.

I don’t worry too much about the chronological order of things.  I just record what I want, when I want.  This has alleviated a ton of “pressure” in that I just document the stories and slip them into the pages.  For me that is what matters most.  The date of events/photos are still recorded, but if I create a page that is ‘out of date order’ so to speak I am completely fine with that. I simply just let that part go, slip it into the page protector and move on.

This is the system I use over and over again to complete my pages and I have found it works so good for me.  There is no need for extra time wasted thinking about what I am going to do.  I just follow these same steps and I have been able to complete Brynn’s pages without having a ton of time to do it!  I also remember that I am NOT going to scrapbook every single photo I have.  THAT IS OK.  My focus with this album are on the stories.  The little ones, the details….those special moments that I want to remember.  And it’s not going to be every story…but that is OK too.  At least I have something written down.  I know I will be SO thankful for that.

So without further ado, here is an inside look into Brynn’s stories that have so far captivated my heart and begun to fill her album.  Enjoy!

It was essential for me to document our ultra sound photos.  Behind these photos is such a great story.  I want to remember how miraculous these moments were for me and my family.  Getting pregnant was very challenging for us, so witnessing this amazing blessing…this healthy and thriving blessing was such an emotional moment.  Finding out that this little baby was a girl for the first time….PRICELESS.

Our last photos as a family of 3.

These photos celebrate the last days as our little trio.  It also marks the last moments I would forever look at my first born as a little toddler, because nothing makes a first born transform into a mini adult faster than the addition of a little baby! Is it just me or do they all of a sudden appear to be so much bigger after that?!?

I have been trying to make notes each week of Brynn.  A photo and some words.  Thoughts, maybe a few milestones…just random details I am feeling at the moment.

Storyline really is a wonderful system if you are looking for something to get your stories told without complication.  This system truly enables you to create gorgeous pages without needing a ton of extra time or supplies.  I really recommend this system if you are new to scrapbooking or are wanting to get back “in” to it and I highly recommend this system to all of you new mommas out there wanting to do something with your babies photos.  I really encourage you to print those fleeting memories (not all of course, a few is all you need).  Place them in a Storyline album and if you want the cute extras, a Deck of Days will help you with that!  It’s really all you need.

I hope you enjoyed this little peek into Brynn’s world.
