big surf day

Wave_poolWe finally gave into the kids  begging and pleading today, and went as a family to “big surf”… it’s a water park here in town that has holds fond memories for eric as he was growing up as well! the kids has been giving me the non-stop pressure, and I wasn’t going to take them by myself… only that joy(and burden) of going to the water park must be shared by both spouses!! Especially when one is as pregnant as this one is!  we really did have a great time. the crowd was pretty manageable… although scoring lounge chairs and shade is NOT an easy task! There are like a million water slides there… but all my kids wanted to do was play in the wave pool. Man, it’s a serious wave that thing puts out. the kids had a BLAST… Capri and I just tip toed along the shore line, and everytime the wave would come she would lift up her feet to try to jump over it ..  when we first got there, I figured I  could just sit and let the waves come up on me… and I would just hold Capri up… holy cow, it totally knocked me over, and in trying to save  capri, I totally got my back, elbows and knees scraped up so bad! plus I felt so dumb- the pregnant thing didn’t help. And I am sure I was getting a lot of the looks like… you are THAT pregnant, and have a baby THAT little? Pretty funny really… anyway… good summer time fuN! And eric was there… so everyone got ample sunblock! (he is the sunblock police), so no sunburns!

Today, i am holed    up in my office. I have a prioritized and specific to-do list… and I have until 5pm.  We’ll see how productive I can be!  at least the big surf day helped a little with the mommy-guilt! I should be able to rock and roll…. now that the blogging is off the list… (check!)

Brought back memories of my first trip to Big Surf in like 1980! OMG I’m old, I need to take DS there this summer since we’ve cancelled our San Deigo Trip!

an essential family fun day heidi…glad you had such a special time all together! and don’t call it ‘mommy guilt’…life has many demands, especially in any family that has 2 working parents. in a larger family with more children to love, this becomes an emotional challenge to make sure that everyone is happy ( husbands, children and bosses ) and also to make sure deadlines are met in your hectic world! …i’m sure that eric has his days of ‘daddy guilt’ too when things get a little chaotic.
enjoy the many blessings you have in your life heidi!!!
…and good luck with your ‘to do’ list today! :o)

Can you believe I’ve lived in Phoenix my whole life and have yet to go to Big Surf?! We were all about Golfland/Sunsplash in Mesa!

I’ve been getting that “you’ve got a baby that little and you’re pregnant again?” look lately too. I agree that it feels a little silly, but I’m happy just the same.
    Sounds like a fun day!

    A) I love Capri’s GAP suit! My daughter has grown out of that size. So sad!
    B) Good thing your hat was even decked out, of course! I loved the ribbon & the flower.
    C) Mommy guilt? WHATEVER!
Heidi, we all know everything happens for a reason & that you might be stressed at times. I am sure you would not change a thing!
I wish I could bust out two kids close like that & still have my website under control! You are still inspiring so many people every day. I am one of them! wink

God has blessed you with this pregnancy and your other children. Don’t even think twice about those looks you might get. Those looks are amazement that you are there looking so awesome and happy, having fun and have that many happy children and wish they were right there in your shoes! And if that isn’t what they are thinking then shame on them!! Good luck with your to do list today and give every one of your children a little hug from this granny! And when all else fails just remember what Dr Seuss says, ” Be who you are and say what you feel. Because those who mind don’t matter and those who matter don’t mind.”

You are my “Idol” pregnant and all you do it all you have and make time for everything and are so open with your heart and thank you for that. I do not have kids and get inspired by you and get tired reading all you do with work and for your family. The looks are definately “wow how does she do it?” Thanks for sharing “all of you” and making us feel like best buds!

When I was growing up my family would go to big surf every other saturday and legend city on the other saturdays. I have the best memories of those times. Now my boys have loved big surf as well over the years. In fact, one of my boys was a life guard the a few summers ago.

OMG I loved Big Surf as a kid! So much fun trying to catch the waves and even more fun attempting to run across the hot sand without burning your feet. Makes me miss AZ.
