DIY sign #crafternoon

Heidi Swapp DIY Banner Project

I had the funnest afternoon the other day with my daughter Capri and my niece Chloe. They are both going into the 6th grade and they LOVE working on projects! After a ‘slime session’ (are your kids into making slime as much as mine?!) I could tell that they were needing something to do… I thought it would be fun to decorate one of my new Chipboard DIY signs for their rooms! We dropped by Michaels and I let them each pick out some silk flowers that would match their room. It was fun to see how much they both knew exactly what they wanted, and were SO excited!

Once we got home, I had them pull the blossoms and leaves off the stems. they each laid the flowers out how they wanted them, and then we used hot glue to attach them to the top of the chipboard sign. It only took just a few minutes!

Both the girls knew immediately what phrase they wanted: Chole added “FUN IN THE SUN”  and Capri chose “GOOD VIBES ONLY”.

Capri wanted a large floral statement that matches her new bedding from PB Teen, which turned out SO cute!

Chloe told me that she like “simple” so she glued just some small flowers to the top corner of the sign then she found some glittery washi tape to place along the tracks of the sign. Hers turned out super cute too!

We promptly hung them up on command hooks! The whole project was only about 30 minutes start to finish with minimal mess! And both girls were SO EXCITED!

All of the supplies are available at Michaels. The DIY sign fits all the letters and words that fit in my Lightbox Mini!

This would be the perfect project for a day camp, or even a birthday party! Creating and crafting with the little people in your life is one of the best ways to enjoy quality time together, and really connect!
