Email Memory Book with Fresh Start

Heidi Swapp Memory Planner

Last month my son went on  the trip of a life time with his school, travelling from Brisbane Australia to Beijing China. He and his class mates spent 14 days travelling around China  experiencing some incredible sights and creating amazing memories. Each night we received an eagerly awaited email from the teachers, sharing a little about the activities that happened that day and a couple of photos from the day. I wanted a way to keep all these memories safe,  so of course I used my Memory Planner which you can find at your local Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft store.

Each night I printed off the photo and added it into my planner and added a little bit of journaling.

I kept all my emails in my ‘inbox’ but wanted a more permanent way to keep them safe. So this past weekend I pulled out one of The Fresh Start Storybooks, printed off the emails and set about creating a little email memory book…..however I am getting ahead of myself….

…first let me first share my daily memories from his trip!

I began by using the Fresh Start stencil to create a little title for the start of his trip. I colored them in with some of  my Jane Davenport colored pencils and that cute little Chinese Take away food sticker for the Cardstock sticker set.

I added stickers and washi from the Fresh Start collection for little pops of color onto my planner pages.

I printed off this amazing photo of the whole crew in front of the Great Wall of China onto a 4×6  photo paper then punched holes and slipped it into my planner.

I added a small plastic sleeve with 3×3 pockets into the rings to allow for more photos.

On the second Saturday we got to Skype call with him and I videoed the call. I upload my video to youtube and used my QR creator to create a code which I can scan with my QR app which links directly to the video.

More fun photos.

We received a postcard from him and I added it into my planner as well.

As I mentioned previously I wanted a more permanent way to keep all of the emails together. I used one of the Storybooks from the Elegant set and set to work.

I added one of Hawthorne Minc foam word stickers, covered with red foil  and Travel Deck Of Days stickers to the front cover.

I printed each email out and trimmed it to fit onto one page.

On the opposite page, sometimes I added a photo or just some journaling filling in the prompts.

Here I clipped one of the photos to my page and embellished with washi tape and stamping using some of the Fresh Start  Clear stamp sets.

If the email was longer I folded the paper over so It was not covering the holes. Here I decorated the back  of the paper with some strips of washi from the Fresh Start collection and stickers from the sticker sets.

I decorated this page with more stickers and stamping.

Adding stamping but stamping down over and over adds a fun touch to each email page.

Sometimes I just used the printed our emails to decorate each page.

Another photo (this might my favorite) clipped to the right page, with fun stickers and stamps for embellishments.

You can see how the page opens up to reveal the email inside.

The final page in the Storybook ends with a photo that my son took from the plane on his way home. A perfect way to complete my little email memory book!

I know in years to come I am going to cherish the little book in my memory planner…and hopefully my son will too!

Remember you can find all these fun memory planner goodies at your local Jo- Ann Fabric and Craft Stores!
