I love to make a big deal out of birthdays! I love creating fun invitations! I love throwing parties with happy decorations and fun, memorable activities! It all just makes me happy! I think that everyone loves to have their birthday remembered by those they love!
Miss Capri was getting ready to turn 11, and we thought that it would be fun to throw an Emoji birthday party! Capri and I are BOTH big EMOJI lovers, and we thought that it would be so much fun to have dinner and then go see the new EMOJI MOVIE that recently hit theaters! SO, we had a plan!
First, I created a really fun, and interactive invitation that included a “wheel of emojis”…
The invite was made of 2 pieces:
1. The front was printed on white cardstock and sized to 5×7”; I cut about a 1” circle in the middle center of the card that would act as a window for the emojis!
2. I placed several emoji faces into a circle design, and then used a brad to attach the circle piece behind the front, lining up the emoji faces!
It turned out so cute, and made me SO happy! Click here to download the invite template for your party!
I like making DIY decor about 1000x more than I like to make the food for the party. So I tend to focus on the look and feel, and then wing the food part. In addition to as many emoji balloons as I could get away with and a really high impact balloon banner thanks to Northstar Balloons! I also created some DIY cardstock paper banners. I used a few phrases that I felt fit the emoji vibe! I wanted to keep these DIY banners quick and easy.
Here’s what you will need to create these super cute and easy banners:
black and white cardstock
digital cutting machine (I love the Silhouette!)
I decided on the words or phrases I wanted to create, and cut all the letters using white cardstock in my Silhouette. I really love the “Bebas” font, which can be downloaded for free from here. I cut all the letters for all the phrases. Then, using a trimmer, I cut 3x 5” pieces for the banner bases from black cardstock. Once all the banner bases were cut, I trimmed a shallow V in one end with scissors. I then used the adhesive to mount the letters to the banner bases. I used a Crop-a-Dile hole punch to punch 2 holes in the top corners in each banner shape and threaded my string through. I love layering and grouping banners! You can see here, how I used multiple banners in our kitchen and have them overlapping and layered on one another. I like to just use the 3M Mini Command Hooks for hanging banners. In fact, I have them strategically placed throughout my house in places that I love to decorate for birthdays and special occasions!
I am a balloon girl all the way, and even the basic balloons have a special place in my heart! The emoji balloons were all the rage at this party! We had a balloon banner with “CAPRI”, the number “11” and so many emoji balloons as decor!
Next up was chalk art, of course! I can’t have a party without adding my favorite part! I came up with some fun wording and started creating a plan. Emojis are bright and colorful so my artwork could be just that! I grabbed all the brightest colors, my letter stencils, and the emoji pack and went to work! (See my chalk art collection here.)
Planning this party was so much fun! All the little details were everything.
Included in the table setting were emoji faces on sticks. Fun, right?! Each person chose their seat by which face they wanted, it was pretty funny to watch them decide which face was perfect for each other! Click here to download the emoji faces for free!
My lightbox is the perfect addition to any party decor! We used the Lightbox in different places around the party packed full of emojis! Pick up my Emoji Mega Packs and the Lightbox at Michael’s stores.
A party isn’t really a party without yummy food…and dessert! The Sweet Tooth Fairy whipped up some emoji cupcakes for us. They were just the best! Not only do her cupcakes taste amazing but they were the best addition to the decor!
Like I said food is never top of mind for me but these little ladies had to eat before our movie night! I made a quick call to Papa Murphy’s and ordered mini personal pizzas. They came in the cutest boxes and had all the supplies for each one of them to make their very own pizza. I had salad, watermelon and mini sodas available for them too!
After dinner and dessert, we headed out to see the Emoji movie! It was quite the night and a huge success! Our emoji party was EPIC! Don’t forget to snag the free printables so you can throw an epic emoji party too!
