Fun with the new Stationery Collection

Heidi Swapp Stationery :: Semi-Handmade cards | Maggie Massey for Heidi Swapp

Hello hello!

Maggie here with a look at some semi-handmade cards I’ve created using pieces from Heidi’s new Stationery Collection…yayayay!

Now, if you know anything at all about my crafting, it’s most-likely the fact that I am NOT a card-maker.

At all.

I mean…at all.

So having a jumping-off point for creating handmade cards is sooo awesome!

Here are some of the cards, envelopes & liners I used to create my projects…

And here is the embellishment kit that took center stage while I was creating…313329_HS_SocialStationery_EmbelishmentKit_Mint_F_1600

The brand new Stationery Embellishment Kits are so awesome…and they contain every single little thing you need to take your cards – whether handmade, semi-handmade or straight-out-of-the-package – from meh to WOO HOO!

Each kit (there are 6 in all) contains color coordinated note cards, address labels, icon stickers, confetti & alphabet stickers.

These are my favorite pieces from the Mint kit…the note cards & the confetti.

Just. So. Good!

And here are the cards I created with just a little tweaking & adding…

Let’s take a look at each of them.

I love love LOVE the smaller little 3×4 pieces in the collection…they are the perfect size for a quick note…or gift cards!

For my first project, I decided to create a “gift card book.”

I picked up a few gift cards for my daughter’s graduation…and typed a few quotes (using my WeR Memory Keepers Typecast machine) on some of the Embellishment Kit note cards that I cut down to 3×4.

I layered the note cards with a few of the collection’s envelopes…and then wrapped the stack with a little piece cut from one of the 3×4 envelope liners.

Then I simply ran a stitch down the side of the stack to hold everything together…

I love that each layer contains its own little gift!

My next card is a Thank You card I created using one of my favorite cards in the Stationery Collection…

I sewed the card up on 3 sides…creating a pocket…

…and then added the “thanks” sentiment from one of the new Buzz Words packs.

Tucked inside my new little pouch are 2 of the banner cards from the Embellishment Kit & one of the 3×4 cards from the collection (I cut the back from the card so that it is only a single layer). I layered them up, punched a hole in the tops and ran a length of seam binding through them to hold them together.

A few of the pieces of yellow confetti (again from the Embellishment Kit) folded over the top of the little card and adhered with a line of stitching add some visual interest…

My final card is one that I created for my son’s 12th birthday later this month.

He will be away on a mission trip during his birthday, so I wanted him to have something special to open while he is gone.

I started with the “Happy B-Day!” card…and attached a couple little flags I cut from 2 different envelope liners.

And here’s my favorite part…the inside.

When you open the card, you’ll see the number “12,” hand-cut from one of the collection’s envelope liners…plus a star sticker from the Embellishment Kit.

The rest of the card contains some of the note cards & accessories from the Embellishment Kit…folded and sewn into the middle of the original card to create pages where I can write to him and add a few thoughts and birthday wishes.

I staggered the placement of each of the inside elements…to kind of even things out a bit.

For this page I simply cut the back off the “Hey You” 3×4 card and adhered the front to the banner note card…I love the combo of the yellow & navy blue!

Here’s something a fun…I added another card (the “DYNOMITE” card…shown a few photos below this one) to the back of the navy banner note card…adhering it on just 3 sides to create a pocket.

Then I tucked in the front part (again, removing the back) of the “SO GLAD YOU EXIST” card.

I folded over a piece of the confetti from the Embellishment Kit to create  little handle and added the word “PULL.”

I love this little hidden sentiment.

On the back of that navy banner note card is part of the “DYNOMITE” card (this is the back part of the pocket I created above…).

I cut this card down as well, and punched a circle from one of the card’s layers to fit over the top of the word.

I added a little envelope as well (which I’ll add money or gift card to)…with the instruction to “OPEN.”

The inside back cover of the card is a little shaker pocket I created with another piece from the “DYNOMITE” card and piece of acrylic. I added some confetti to the inside and the word “celebrate” (from one of the packs of BUZZ WORDS stickers)…and done!

I LOVE THAT CARD!

Actually I love them all…and I can’t wait to give them away!

And the best part is that I was able to create some sorta handmade cards without too much work!
