Today I want to share a Mixed Media Art Journal tutorial showcasing just how amazing the Heidi Swapp Mediums work together through layering.  When one layers, you can achieve so many different effects, use altering colour palettes, as well as varying designs to create stunning pages.

With so many brilliant Heidi Swapp mixed media products now available, it really is mind blowing what they can achieve when they are used together.  They truly take projects to another level.

I loved using the MINC Reactive Mediums, along with Color Shine and Texture Paste to create a gorgeous page for the inside of my journal.

What initially began as a blank canvas using the MINC journal inserts….transformed into what you see below.  Multi colors of foil, texture paste designs, mists of color shine…embellished with foiled canvas, ribbons, doilies and tags.

Want to know just how I created this?  And just how EASY it really is??? Let me break it down for you with a video tutorial:

Isn’t the transformation simply inspiring?

I love how each layer builds onto the next.  From art screens….to stencils….to mist…to texture paste and color shine.  They work together so beautifully.

I love the dimension of the white texture paste against the reactive mist and floral screen print.

The embellishment layers here just melt me.

TRY THIS!

  • Use the Reactive Mist on canvas.
  • Foil it with the MINC.
  • Apply Texture Paste on top using a desired stencil pattern.
  • Finish off with a spray of Color Shine on top.

This method is probably one of my favourite ways to transform these tags.

Adding Reactive Mist onto ribbon and then with Color Shine is also another fun way to experiment and use these mediums together on different surfaces.
