Happy happy Monday!
I usually don’t start decorating for Christmas until after Thanksgiving, but this year I have started getting things ready to go a little early.
In fact, I’ve been Christmas-crafting up a storm, so the minute the turkey dishes get thrown into the dishwasher, the holiday decor can go up!
And Heidi’s brand new 4″ Marquee Love letters will be front and center in a little holiday banner I’ve created…
My decor has been getting a little more woodsy and natural looking over the past few years, so I chose woodgrain (MY FAVORITE EVER) to decorate my letters…
Here’s what I used:
- Some 4″ Marquee Love letters…I chose M-E-R-R-Y
- 2″ Decorative Tape…I chose the woodgrain tape from the Gallery Wall (and Marquee Love) collection
- Some patterned paper…I chose the fantastic woodgrain paper from the Marquee Love collection
- Craft knife
- Twine (any string, yarn or ribbon will do here)
I started by adding the decorative tape to the outside of each of my letters. Because the tape is wider than the letters, I trimmed off the excess with a craft knife and some scissors.
Then I traced my letters onto the woodgrain paper using the included letter template (same as you do with the larger Marquee Love letters & shapes), cut them out, placed them inside my letters and added my bulbs and lights.
I attached my letters to each other (and to the battery pack & remote – sold separately) following Heidi’s instructions HERE (just scroll down and look for the video), and then I strung my twine through the pre-cut holes and slits in each letter and hung up my banner.
I kinda love it.
The lights just make everything so much more festive!
I’m so ready to get our decorations up and to get this holiday season started!
Thanks so much for taking a peek! And check out Heidi’s blog all season for amazing holiday inspiration!
