Mother’s Day 2017 | Documenting YOU!

Using Storyline to Document YOU! :: Mother's Day 2017 | Maggie Massey for Heidi Swapp

Sunday is Mother’s Day here in the States!

Are you ready?

Have you downloaded and printed out some of Heidi’s cards for your Mom/friends/friends’ moms?

There are only a few days left, so GO!

As soon as you’re finished reading my post, that is…(smile).

Today I’m sharing this Storyline layout I created for me…for Mother’s Day.

And let me tell you…when I was given this assignment I cringed.

Yep, full-out CRINGED.

Why? Because I am NOT a huge fan of being photographed.

And when I say “not a huge fan,” I mean I absolutely detest it.

ALL I see in photos of me are the wrinkles, the ever-heavying jowls, the extra weight, the scars, and the constant ticking-away of time.

And, quite frankly, I hate those reminders of reality.

So stepping in front of the camera is something I try to avoid at all costs.

But I know that it is important that I do it every so often.

I know that it is important that we have these records of ourselves to pass down to our children and to their children.

I know that there will come a time when I will look back on these photos and say…”Ahhh, yes. I remember that day.”

And that’s what it’s all about, right?

And so, no matter how reluctant I am, on those days when I’ve actually showered and put on some makeup, I may snap a selfie or two (or 500! because – between you and me – it usually takes at least many until I find one I’m OK with…).

Then I’ll scrutinize and layer on filter after filter until the photo is acceptable…and I’ll print it.

And I’ll forgive myself for being hard on me.

Ugh, it’s so much easier for me to scrap photos of the people I love.

BUT, I do love how this page turned out…

…and I know that, someday, I will be so grateful that I took a few minutes to document this moment.

.

.

.

How about you take some time this weekend to snap a quick selfie and jot down a few things about YOU?

Believe me…I know it’s not always the easiest thing to do…but it is important.

YOUR stories, thoughts & ideas are just as important as those of your family…so write them down…get them told.

Hope you have a wonderful weekend!
