I have a confession to make. I’m a chronic desk-cleaner-upper. It’s true. When I am done with a task I just HAVE to clean it up before going on to the next.
And so it is with great abandon I welcome National Clean Off Your Desk Day.
Celebrated the second Monday of January. Which is today.
And no. You can’t celebrate by just closing browser tabs.
This is serious, people.
It’s the national made up day to celebrate all things declutter, reorganize and clean up that work space.
I know. I’m a nerd. Decluttering and organizing make me sort of giddy.
But that’s OK. You can be too.
According to the timeanddate website, productivity experts say that a functional and organized work space is important for having a fulfilling and productive work life.
I think it’s way simpler than that. One can find stuff with a clean desk.
Oh. And hey all you crafters. This goes for you too. I know. I know. I’ve seen your Instagram posts. The chaos that is the crafters work table (and floor).
All I am encouraging is to clean it off when your are done.
A cleaned off desk creates focus and a better ability to process. And it can eliminate frustration. Can I get an amen?
Here are my tips for cleaning off that desk or work space:
take everything off
throw away the trash
put away the stuff that belongs in other areas
create homes for like things
and then re-style that desk
pare down the un-needed items that only add more clutter
and enjoy instant success in every thing you do.
OK. Only joking about that last tip. But it might happen.
Who knows. Join me and Clean Off Your Desk. Today. Cause you never know what you may find.
