Maggie here today with another way to streamline your memory-keeping with Storyline – focusing on color!
You know by now that Heidi’s Storyline Collection makes getting your stories told quick & easy, right?
Well, it’s about to get even quicker & easier.
Focusing on just one design element on your page can really help your documenting run more efficiently.
And centering your layout around a color or shape makes page-creation that much easier…if an embellishment doesn’t fit within your design parameters, you don’t use it.
That’s the thought I was keeping in mind when I decided to create this layout.
I was going to stick with one color…and that color would be what I focused on.
My color choice was easy.
I LOVE green right now.
Love, love, LOVE.
I had this really cool photo of my son’s baseball team that I wanted to get scrapped, but his team’s uniforms are royal blue, and that just wasn’t going to work with my green-focused page. So I printed the photo in black & white and problem solved!
Next, I pulled out all of the green stickers & embellishments from both the Boy Power Journaling Stickers & Deck of Days. Limiting myself to a few supplies makes things easier right off the bat (ha ha…no pun intended).
From the cards that I pulled, I narrowed my choices down even further by separating the ones I thought went well with my story.
And then I simply moved them around my page until I was happy with their arrangement.
I kept the more simple shapes – the square, rectangle & circle – under my photo to keep the page grounded.
They have, as I see it, more “weight” than the diamond, chevron & hand-written embellishments. And I think the page looks more stable this way.
When I was finished with my stickers, I added a little handwritten journaling & my WHO, WHAT & WHERE, and this page was done!
I love that the Storyline Collection makes telling our stories so easy. And I love that I can spend a minimal amount of time on my pages. But I especially love when I get a great looking layout finished and in the books.
Thank you so much for taking a look. I hope I’ve inspired you to give color-focused scrapping a try!
