Hey hey everyone!
Maggie here with a look at a brand new mini album I just cranked out in about 4 hours!
You heard me right…an entire mini album finished in just about a morning.
All thanks to the new Storyline Mini Albums & accessories – available now in Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores!
My album focuses on my son’s travel baseball team – so I used the Boy Power Deck of Days & the Boy Sticker Journal Kit to help me embellish my photos.
And the Black Stripe Storyline Mini Album is where it all begins.
I love that Heidi has taken the ease and simplicity of her Storyline Collection and created a mini album…it’s the perfect place to tell some of those stories that cover a season, vacation, or event!
Wanna take a look inside?
To create my opening page, I first printed off a photo of my son’s team at the same width as the album. Then I punched holes in the side of the photo using my WeR Memory Keepers Planner Punch Board, and placed it BEHIND the album’s opening sheet of vellum.
Next, I added a phrase sticker and some typed journaling strips on TOP of the vellum to introduce my album.
Here’s how the photo looks without the vellum sheet in front of it.
When you turn the page again, this is what you see…”tell your story.”
Turn the page once again and you see the where my documenting starts.
Now, each spread in this album is like a full-size 8.5×11 or 12×12 Storyline background. The left side of the spread has your spaces for your WHO, WHAT, and WHERE…
…and the right side of each spread has a space for you to add your date, more photos, journaling, etc.
To create each spread in this little mini, I first printed out and added my photos.
Then, I sorted through my Deck of Days and removed the cards I thought would fit my theme, adding them here and there where I liked them.
Next, I added pencil lines as guides for my journaling, and then I added my journaling.
When all of that was done, I went back and added in my dates & little phrase stickers.
I tried to keep my pages as simple as possible.
I had a lot of information I wanted to include, and I didn’t want this one project to take me days and days and days.
I mixed up photo sizes on every page for this album, but to make things even easier and more uniform-looking, you could keep your sizes consistent.
The 4×6 photo on the page above (and highlighted in the photo below) is one of my favorites. I love how it fills the page without being overwhelming.
Just a few words are really all you need to spark those memories!
For this page, I cut one of Heidi’s new Minc-able greeting cards (also available at Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores) in half and added it directly into the album.
Not only does it look cool, but it acts as a sort of cover for all of the journaling on the next page.
I also used a colored pencil on some of the words in my WHO, WHAT and WHERE just to make them stand out a bit and to add a bit more color.
The mix of block letters (like in the above “neon” stickers found in the Boy Journal Stickers pack) and Heidi’s handwriting always makes me so happy!
And that’s where I finished up!
I still have a few pages to add after our next tournament…but that will be so easy to do.
Just a few photos, a few stickers, a little bit of journaling & done!
Thank you so much for taking a look at my summer Storyline Mini Album…
I so hope I’ve inspired you to get some of your bigger stories told!
