i was so excited to have my friend and media team member Kim Jeffress come to town for a week and stay at my house! it was her first time coming to SLC, UT… so of course i wanted her to see and do as much as possible!
i usually spend M, W and Fridays in the office at AC so Kim came right along with me! i warned her that i would be putting her right to work! we thought that it would be so much fun to work on a project and film a video together! we decided to create a SPRING project for my house! since there is a big ugly TV hanging over my mantel… i like to add seasonal and holiday decor in my living room under my stairs…
i put Kim to work using the new “faux” wood plank to make a cute “WELCOME” arrow…
the faux wood chipboard plank is 12″ long and about 4″ wide. it’s a really heavy duty embossed chipboard that is just waiting to be painted and stamped on! Kim cut it into an arrow using a utility knife…
she then used the paint distress kits to give it a “white wash” look. you can use either ink or paint with the foam stamps… i usually reach for acrylic paint. i love how the arrow turned out!
i had actually asked my son Colton to create the art for the arrow… and he said that i could share it here as well… so CLICK HERE to download the arrow template so you can create your own! FAIR WARNING: the faux chipboard plank is MASSIVELY thick – so as you cut it… don’t try to cut through all the layers at once… continue slicing over and over until you get all the way through. use a heavy utility knife!
this is what the “creative” area looks like at American Crafts… we are always creating mock ups and testing new products right here!
Capri joined us in the office as well… my kids LOVE coming to “work” with me!
we also thought it would be fun to add some banners to the wreath project… so we used the foam stamps with the gold metallic screen ink to stamp the word “SPRING” and layered the pieces of the doily and die cut kits to create this easy banner! i LOVE how shiny it stamps!
Kim and i did create a video all about crafting these banner pieces, as well as putting this whole project together. it was so much fuN! and i think it’s pretty cool to have someone on camera with me! kim is a natural of course!
SO yes! we had a blast filming this video! i think that it was fun for Kim to see the whole “behind the scenes” look at what happens as i prep and plan for videos… and then also setting up and filming the videos! i hope you will enjoy this one… and that you will learn something NEW! we had SO much fun making it, and i still love looking at it everyday!
as you watch this video, you will see how we create these little banner pieces using color shine and foam stamps, how i added the florals to the pre-made wreath and how i incorporated the trendy look of moss into my project! so come join kim and i for some creative time! and if you aren’t already… be sure that you are subscribed to my YouTube channel so you don’t miss out on anything!
