Hello back everyone!

Today I am super excited to share with you a little personal “goal” I am currently working on as I document in my Memory Planner.  That goal…..is JOURNALING.  Whose with me?

This “goal” all began as I was approaching this month of June, to be honest….with a little disappointment.  At the 6 month mark of the year…I was looking back through my planner and as I was in awe of all of the things I had documented…something was still missing.  I needed more words.  I was missing a deeper story.  Details.  Little notes of our life.  I needed to write more…plain and simple.

Nothing complicated, drawn out or difficult.  Just more of our life story.  It is my duty to tell it within my pages…what am I really waiting for?

So this month…I am working hards toward my goal.  Starting slowly and keeping things REAL.  It’s time to note what’s going on.  Life is really all in the details.

So if any of you out there can relate to these feelings, I hope what I share today will help and encourage you if you at all feel like there is something you are missing out on.  I want to share just a few simple (and VERY doable) strategies that I have implemented this month in order to keep me focused and on track in making time to write down “more stuff”.

Here is my past week:

Each day I write something down.  Only after it is written down do I embellish.  I really want the words to be the focus on my pages.  What am I writing down?

  • A standout moment of the day
  • Quote and/or Affirmation
  • Daily Gratitude
  • Something I am loving
  • Anything that is “speaking” to me at the time

I usually work in my planner in the evenings, so it is a nice way for me to reflect on the day and end the day on a positive, more peaceful note.

Other times….let’s be honest.  Life is busy.  I will just leave a blank space.

Cause well….there was just no time to get in on that day.  And that is TOTALLY OK.  Move on.

Because I love filling my planner with photos, I still did not want to sacrifice on the photos for the words either.  So instead, I added my Instax photos into my planner in 2 alternate ways for the week:

  1. Punch photo and add directly into planner binder rings
  2. Add in an envelope, place photos inside envelope

These alternate methods not only allow me to keep my pictures present, but they allow me the space I need to journal.  Win-win!

For longer stories and more detailed journaling, I love to utilize notepads and notebooks.

These notepads and notebooks are amazing journaling tools.  They come lined in various designs so they look adorable, plain and simple!  They also provide ample space to get the details and stories of life down.

I love this “shopping list” notepad.

However, this week I did not want to include a shopping list in my spread, but still wanted to use this notepad….so instead I used a sticker to cover the ‘shopping list’ title and voila!  I have a perfect place to recall a highlight of the month.

Since these are double sided, I added a piece of pattern paper to the other side and was able to add in additional journaling as well.

One last very simple and effective journaling technique I used was create a “hidden journaling” spot.

To create this “hidden journaling” I simply adhered an Instax photo with washi tape on one edge to create a n interactive flap.

I added my journaling underneath.  So simple, yet effective!

I hope that these simple little tips and techniques encourage you to tell more of your story within your own pages.  If they work for me….I know they will definitely work for you!  Cheers to our story….and telling more of it! XO
