not lost! & club heidi update!

Don’t worry, I didn’t drop off the face of the earth… just trying to get things figured out! I think that I spent 9 months worrying about how it was going to be to juggle everything. I am happy to report that it is every bit as difficult and overwhelming as I suspected! LOL! actually, I think that I am adjusting! Connor couldn’t be any more easy going and angelic… and Capri is not quite as violent with him as she was in the beginning! I think that protecting him from her was one of my biggest challenges. That, and the thought of needing to go to the grocery store. (frightening)… so I decided to go the on-line grocery shopping route! man, that was awesome. The kids were totally getting a kick out of me ‘grocery shopping’ on-line… and just like they do at the store, they sat and begged for me to order cookies and chips and candy etc. the best part, was that when the  groceries arrived, the guy totally brought them right into my kitchen counter. TOTALLY worth that $10 delivery charge!  I guess that I just have to be really creative . My sister, Katie has been in town this week with my niece Aspen who is just a few months older than Capri. The little girls were just too cute for words toddling around. Katie and I went and saw “Hairspray” at the late movie Monday night.  I LOVED it! so cute. I have never seen the play, so I wasn’t totally sure what to expect…I highly recommend it! it was so fun to have my sister here so someone would go with me!

So our yard is DONE! it looks sooooo fabulous! I know that I mentioned that we were doing some work out there… and I am so LOVING IT!  where we live, we don’t have access to city water, so we have a well. it’s not prolific enough that we can water grass, so after much deliberation, we decided to put in artificial grass. I know… sounds like a miniature golf course! But this stuff is fantastic! I looks GORGEOUS. And it will ALWAYS look gorgeous! No water, no mowing, no dead spots from the dog, no weeds… no prob! And we have been having so much fun playing on it. it’s been years since we could be out in the back kicking a soccer ball or throwing a Frisbee! Amazing what a bonding, family thing grass is! I have to show you a photo! between the new coat of paint, the stone veneer on the front and the grass, it looks like a new place!

OH… I almost forgot! The NEW August ‘Club Heidi” kit is UP and will be available for purchase on August 1st. Check out the fun ideas for sure!

Now that is a back yard!

  34. alison 26 July, 2007 at 10:23 pm

    1) okay so i feel totally the same way about grocery delivery as you. mind you, it was only my second child and they weren’t as close as you two little cuties, but i was petrified at the thought of going to the store. i think i had groceries delivered for the first three months.
    2) your backyard looks great! what a dream come true for kids. i wish i had a skateboarding ramp.
    3) club heidi is going to be the financial death of me. i bought last month’s kit and loved it and thought i might take a break next month. oh no! again, i love it!
great work! hope you’re doing well.

  35. Ramona 26 July, 2007 at 11:40 pm

I LOVE ‘Hairspray’. And you garden looks very inviting..lol..

  36. Rebecca 27 July, 2007 at 12:43 am

Just curious…did they put in those funny little ground up black rubber bead thingies and rake them into your grass to make it stand up. I watched them do my MIL’s neighbor’s turf and thought it was fascinating!

  37. Starr Mercer 27 July, 2007 at 1:15 am

Good to hear you are juggling life well with a newborn…and all the rest. I’d like to request more Swapp home photos…the ones you showed of the new backyard are amazing and the same probably goes for the rest of the house. My husband & I are starting to design our dreamhome and I need all the help I can get!

  38. Krisje 27 July, 2007 at 5:39 am

    Hey Heidi,

Awesome new yard, and landscaping! I can’t imagine living where you do (I grew up in the East TN hills), but you surely did make it pretty there! The kids are adorable, and love the pic of Capri and Aspen! They are SO cute! Thank goodness the baby is a laid back one, that surely does help! Thanks for sharing all the great pictures with us! 🙂

  43. Jennifer Kirk 27 July, 2007 at 9:48 am

  44. Melanie 27 July, 2007 at 9:59 am

I love getting your newsletter with all the great pictures and ideas on it. Gets me excited to get going!! I am expecting my 3rd child (after a 7 year break!), and just found out it’s a girl! After seeing your August kit, I think that would be perfect for her baby book. I just hope I get to order it before they’re all gone!
Seeing the pictures of your cute children I was wondering how your baby rooms are decorated. I can just imagine how darling they are and creative! I am also thinking pink and brown in my new baby’s room. Any suggestions I would greatly appreciate! Keep the great products coming!!

  45. Tiffany 27 July, 2007 at 10:12 am

Dude…your kit looks awesome!!!!! I am going to have to check that out! I am loving me some Heidi Swapp. Oh and that online grocery shopping?? Saved my life….my little angel will not sit still in a shopping cart, so I say…so worth paying $10 to go grocery shopping and have them deliver! LOVE That! Glad you are adjusting well. Those children are just adorable, so I am sure it makes it all worth it!
    Blessings

  46. Giddy 27 July, 2007 at 10:46 am

You have the cutest husband (mine would have put that shirt on for me…really he would have!)! I have a fetish for pink too…..I love the fun in you!
    God Bless!
    Valerie

  47. Hannah 27 July, 2007 at 11:17 am

wow your back yard is AMAZING! And you and you 2 little ones are adorable! Well done on the online shopping, definately the best way to go!!!

  48. Paul-ene 27 July, 2007 at 2:42 pm

oh Online shopping is the best thing one could ever do for themselves with a new baby. I did the online shopping when my son was born. It was so GREAT! Nothing like groceries right to your front door.
Your Yard is super COOL!!! Look at that cactus…..ha….you really do live in the desert area. I wouldn’t blame you for getting the fake grass. It would be hard to keep grass green in desert area. We are under a drought and alot of lawns are brownish here in MN. Only ones with water sprinklers have green and it still hard to keep up with the green lawn. We live on well set up too and we can water whenever we like. No restrictions. That helps! My Dh is “obsessed” man with the green lawn. We have green grass BUT no water pressure in the house because he always watering every square inch of the yard. Ha(MEN)!!!
PS-Super cute mommy pix with the babies. You look wonderful and your new baby is growing big already. WOW! They grow so fast!

  49. Melissa H 27 July, 2007 at 10:59 pm

wow your yard looks amazing, i had to pull dh off his computer to have a look! it’s like a resort! i guess with 5 kids you have to have stuff for them to do! my boys would *love* that skateboard ramp… it caught my eye straight away!
by the looks of it you are doing such a great job being a mummy of 5, that pic of you with capri and connor is gorgeous, you look refreshed and most of all – happy!
good on you heidi, you are such an inspiration to so many!

  50. LenaS 28 July, 2007 at 6:10 am

How funny!! I’ve been begging my husband for artificial turf in our backyard for a year. He thinks it won’t last, but I’m not going to mow a real lawn and I don’t like using that much water either. I’m so tired of dirt and weeds–can you tell me your secret HS–how do you convince a husband to do what you want? Thx. It looks fantastic!

  51. Lori 28 July, 2007 at 6:20 am

Heidi you constantly AMAZE me! You have such a wonderful family and you are doing such a great job balancing five kids and work! You can do this!
I can’t wait for the August kit! I love the new products and have been harassing a few stores to quickly get them on their shelves!
Enjoy your beautiful yard and the rest of the summer!

  52. Nat Mardon 28 July, 2007 at 6:22 am

I feele your pain with the two little ones Heidi – I have exactly the same thing – I remember being pregnant with you with both of mine!! Elijah is 14 months, and Lani is 1 month now…. and yep its tough hey!! Now I have to really decide if I *need* to go to the shops for things coz its just not worth the effort to get babes out of the car and into the pram (even though I have a kick-arse Phil & Teds double buggy!) jsut for a few items…..
But God doesn’t give us what we can’t handle, so I’m sure you’re doing a fabulous job – and they’ll be great friends when they grow up!
Kit looks yummy and yard looks fab!!
Take care, Nat Mardon from Oz xx

  53. Amber M 28 July, 2007 at 9:06 am

Heidi, I can see my mountain in the picture of your house! LOL! Have you ever noticed that the largest mountain in the San Tan string looks like a face gazing up at the sky? Pretty cool. I love what you’ve done with your house (my hubby and I are wanting to put a half pipe in for our boys too) and I have to agree, the grass looks great!

  54. Michelle 28 July, 2007 at 4:37 pm

Way cute you three!! I lived with one child in a Baby Bjorn and one on my hip for many months. People couldn’t figure how they balanced but it all just works out…such is life.
    Best wishes!
    Michelle

  55. Shana 28 July, 2007 at 9:30 pm

Wow I feel you on adjusting with children , it is a very hard adjustment but God has given us the most amazing abilities as mom’s to handle it! Your home is amazing and your yard is awesome, I love your scrap kits and hope to jump on bored!

  56. Jolene George 29 July, 2007 at 9:49 am

Heidi…your house and yard are simply amazing! How cool to have fake grass…no muss no fuss. My boys would love the ramps you have back there.
My daughter in law is due to have her baby in a week, so her boys will be 11 months apart. She’ll be really busy, but not as busy as you are.
Can’t wait for that kit to come out. It looks wonderful!

Your yard looks amazing! I’m right with you about artifical things. I have a couple baskets of silk flowers on my front porch. From the road you can’t tell and all my friends know I have a black thumb. Hang in there and enjoy your family bonding yard.
