About 10 years ago I created a photo memory book from photos taken on Thanksgiving Day. That album to this day is one of my all time favorite collections of memories. This album stays out all year long. The kids were so little ten years ago. And those moments were and are so very meaningful to me. Honestly, I don’t know why I have not done one more often.
With that in mind, I took up the challenge to use Gallery Wall Mixed Media, available at Michaels Stores, to create what I call my Thanksgiving Day Book. You know how all the December countdown albums are so popular and on trend? Well, this is my little answer to that, but Thanksgiving style. Plus way more simpler.
This Thanksgiving Day Book is about the shape of a traveler’s notebook, about 4 1/2 x 8 1/4 inches. The covers are cardstock covered with Gallery Wall Paper Pad patterned paper. The inside is home to three collections of vellum papers, art screen inked backgrounds, and a pocket pages.
Allow me take you on a tour of this very special book.
The book covers are covered with two of the black and white striped papers from the Decorative Paper Pad. I was trying to go for a clean and classic look.
As stated above, the book contains three sections. Each section begins with a vellum paper that is home to one of the Gallery Wall Doilies.
Using the Small Alpha Foam Stamps, I stamped out the word BE on each of the three doilies. This was done using the Pink Screen Ink from the Art Screen Took Kit. So each section starts off with the BE theme…and then a word in particular typed on the Typecast typewriter. Here the section is called BE thankful.
After the vellum paper, I art screened a piece of white cardstock. The floral screen is shown here and is just inked on the corner.
The first pocket page is next.
To create this page, the floral art screen was used again with Pink Art Screen Ink. A pocket was created from unaltered white cardstock. I used striped Decorative Tape on the edge of the pocket. Because black and white stripe.
The pockets for this BE thankful section holds tags that were also altered with Gallery Wall mixed media.
These tags will be passed out Thanksgiving morning to my family. I want them to take a moment to share thoughts and blessings that will be saved for years to come in our Thanksgiving Day Book. And that is the first section.
The second section is called BE filled.
This section is for me. I want to keep notes on the day. Our menu. Our guests. Our activities. The weather. Just whatever it is that I deem reasonable to document.
Sometimes the smallest details holds great joy in years to come. The journal sheets in this pocket page will be home to my notes on Thanksgiving Day.
The last section is called BE loved.
This pocket holds a little mini book of card stock, stapled in the middle to bind. These pages will hold photos from the day.
Using the White Texture Paste over one of the Stencils, I created a place to hold the visual to my memories from this day. I like the interactive nature of this little mini album hidden away in my book. This little book is already making me so excited to capture the moments from Thanksgiving 2016.
I am sure, ten years from now, when our family dynamics have changed dramatically once again, that this Thanksgiving Day Book will be a treasure to me, just like all the other albums and planners and layouts created before it. Memories bring great significance to the events of our lives. As well as the everyday. Here is to your November and the many memories you will be making this month.
